I discovered Earth Day...
...when I was ten years old. My parents brought my brother and me to Bush Gardens in Florida. This was the first time I had the opportunity to see some of my favorite animals in real life. It was the best day ever!
Sifting through the gift shop, I landed on a t-shirt that promoted Bush Gardens’ support for Earth Day. It instantly became my favourite and I wore it as often as I could. This is when I started to raise awareness for this important cause without even realizing it.
A bit of history
Did you know that Earth Day began in 1970 when a US Senator, a Congressman and a young activist joined forces? They worked together to organize campus teach-ins on April 22 to raise awareness on the increasing levels of air and water pollution. To learn more, visit: The History of Earth Day - Earth Day
