How I became a Writer…

Updated: Jan 5, 2023

Happenstance or kismet?

About 20 years ago, I had a unique opportunity to meet a Career Orientation Specialist. She analyzed the results of an exhaustive questionnaire that dove into my psyche. She told me that I had an extraordinary imagination and an acute talent for writing fiction novels. She even compared me to J.K. Rolling. Her words, not mine!

That statement lingered in the back of my brain as I wrote and edited countless government documents throughout my career.

The dream

Things changed about three and a half years ago when I had an amazing dream. Feeling as though this idea could turn into an interesting story, I started to draft my first-ever manuscript. I quickly realized that I knew nothing about writing novels. So, I decided to complete the Writing Story Books for Children online course I’d started a few years back.

My mother’s passing

A few months later, my mother suddenly passed away and I found myself drowning my sorrows in my #writing. I would often wake up in the middle of the night, sneak into an empty room, and #write for hours on end.

Over the next few years, I brainstormed with my husband, sought feedback from my father and daughters, and shared my dream of becoming a published #Author with only a few close friends. Even though writing is a solo endeavor, I owe this #book to this group’s ongoing love and support.

A Stellar Purpose

A Stellar Purpose is my first manuscript, and I intend to pursue this new passion for years to come. I’ve even started to work on the outline of my second #novel. So, stay tuned!
